We build greener, healthier homes

When we build our homes, we have a few principles in mind to make sure we build responsibly and invest in the future.

Your new community will have character

Each Taylor Wimpey neighbourhood is unique, with its own character and identity. But each one is designed to our rigorous standards. You’ll benefit from well connected streets and public spaces, easy access to transport and, on many sites, local shops, schools and community hubs.

At larger schemes we include different housing styles to add character and often we match our layout and materials to reflect the local landscape and traditions.

Your new home will be energy efficient

We carefully consider how to design our homes to be energy efficient. Sustainable features can be seen throughout our homes, from high quality insulated roofs, walls, and windows, through to energy efficient appliances, zoned heating systems and water saving taps. Our new build homes come with a smaller carbon footprint than an equivalent second-hand property, which is great news for the planet and means lower energy bills for you.

You’ll save on energy bills

The Home Builders Federation estimates homeowners of new builds can save more than £600 off their annual utility bill compared to older properties*. Water meters, low-flow taps and dual flush toilets will help you save on water bills too. You'll have more cash to spend on the things that matter to you.

Our developments are designed for wellbeing

Our new developments are designed to help you stay active, with neighbourhoods you can easily walk or cycle around. You'll be a stone's throw from playgrounds, parks and green spaces.

We took part in the NHS’s Healthy New Town initiative, and we’re looking at how we can do even more on our sites to help people stay healthy and active with activities like a weekly parkrun, which we introduced at our Whitehill and Bordon site.

You can connect with nature

Being near to nature can give our spirits a lift, and recent research shows it has a positive impact on our health. We want to help you get out and enjoy nature, so we’re putting wildlife and green space at the centre of our development planning.

We launched our ‘Home for Nature’ toolkit earlier this year to help us do just that. It’s full of ideas that we’re implementing on our sites from planting wildflower meadows, to integrating hedgerows, trees and ponds, and installing bird boxes and hedgehog pathways.

We were pleased to be Commended in the Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year category at the Housebuilder Awards 2021, run by Housebuilder Magazine, the Home Builders Federation and NHBC.

Investing in the talent of the future

Our paid apprenticeships give our apprentices hands-on development and support across a whole range of skills. We’re proud to have recruited 382 apprentices in 2019 and in total and have over 600 young people completing apprenticeships, learning a trade and building their career with us. By supporting a young person’s career, it makes our future team even stronger.
